doug is here now with the very latest on what's been a really stormy afternoon. >> and a dangerous situation. we talked about the potential for flooding and we've already seen dramatic flooding pictures. let's show you pictures out of frederick. frederick has seen upwards of 3 to 4, even 5 inches of rain in some locations. the first thing you notice is cars going through the water. the first thing you do, do not go through any areas that are flooded. turn around, don't drown. that's the saying from the national weather service, and that's something we want you to heed today, because we have seen a lot of rain into portions of maryland. you can mention, there's that same picture, look at this, this is already up to the wheel wells here. any time that water gets into the engine, your car is done. and if you're near a river or not near something like that, like a downtown area, you could be stranded. so please, make sure you're turning around and not drowning.

4:28 pm
but then behind that, more rain. so we have a flash flood watch for the rest of the area. that goes through late tonight as a result of potential for more heavy rain. so tonight, 84 degrees out there. the current temperature heat index, 91. so a very humid and very moist atmosphere. so a lot of fuel out there to fuel these thunderstorms. temperatures, 84 in manassas right now, 77 in sterling, and 88 down towards leonardtown. as far as the evening goes tonight, we're going to be seeing temperatures 78 to about 83 degrees. but there's the big risk. slight risk of severe weather, heavy rain, possible flooding out there. tomorrow, this will all be a memory. this will move out of here fairly early, we'll see some clouds early, but then a nice start with things becoming mostly sunny by tomorrow afternoon. i think tomorrow is going to be a beautiful day, a little bit on the humid side. 86 to about 90 degrees. and as we move through the rest of the weekend, the weekend looking great. high of 92 on sunday. so just watch out out there for the next couple hours. if you don't have to be out, might as well stay at home. >> all right. thanks, doug.
